New Year's Eve

After our hot dog roast we went home. Did you know it was a blue moon? We heard a lot of booms outside of arials all over Laie. I kept trying to see what was going on and Jake wasn't even fazed. As soon as the wind picked up suddenly I noticed he was outside checking out what was going on with the weather. He said, "The weather is much more exciting than fireworks." Amaya was so scared of our silly little fireworks (small spinning things, and a car that was propelled forward by sparks) that she sat in the car with the doors closed. "Don't do that again," she told us. After we put her to bed Jake made chocolate chip cookies (while I backseat baked) and I fell asleep while we watched a movie. I have turned into the most exciting adult I know.

Here's to 2010. And our peanut.
If you didn't know already, I'm 9 weeks pregnant. Just don't hug me, or I might puke on you. The first trimester has felt like 9 years to me.

hi guys. melinda here. non-stop party with you, huh.
i'm SO excited for you to be pregnant! ephraim was on the computer and suddenly sings, hey hey hey, come look! i saw an ultrasound and figured one of my dozen sisters was expecting--there are like three of them currently. but ephraim seemed too excited for it to be one of them. he said "mariko" and i didn't think of you. when i finally realized what he was saying, i started tearing up. (is that silly or what?) so good thing i'm not there or i'd hug you and get puked on!
so happy for you and especially for uncle jake and sassy amaya!!
hang in there. (as if you have a choice.)

Your life looks much more beautiful than life in Utah. I might be feeling bitter towards Utah.

We're excited for your peanut. Hooray for beautiful little peanuts born to beautiful people in beautiful places!

Congrats Mariko! SO exciting. Our kids were asking if we are going to do some fireworks on new years eve. I replied with question," In the snow???" I guess kids forgot about us living in the snow. I wish I could forget . . . Well, at least I get to eat Japanese Christmas cake for about 4 times a year since we moved here. (for each birthdays) Amaya's Christmas pj is so cute on her, BTW!
